RC050 5 inch capacitive touch display: specs
A 5 inch 800 x 480 HDMI display with a 5-point capacitive touch panel that sends touch over USB, made by Elecrow. It works as a small monitor for a Raspberry Pi or a PC and has a 3.5 mm audio output, an on-screen menu and a backlight switch.

Pinout
We don't publish a pin table for this part: no official source we could verify gives one. Check the labels printed on your module, and see the notes below.
This is a finished HDMI display with connectors, not a board with a pin header. Connectors named by Elecrow: HDMI video input, micro-USB for touch and power (the specification sheet says either of two micro-USB ports works for touch), 3.5 mm audio output, power switch and the on-screen menu keys. No pin-level pinout is published.
Build with it
Project ideas for the RC050 5 inch capacitive touch display. Each link opens Soldr with the prompt filled in; Soldr assigns the pins, checks power and shows how to wire every part.
- Pi 5 desk dashboard: The display takes 0.30 A at 5 V over micro-USB, so power it from a Pi USB port or a separate 5 V supply, and use the micro-HDMI adapter that Elecrow includes. The BME280 connects to the Pi's I2C pins at 3.3 V.
- Pi 5 kiosk screen: Touch is supported on Raspberry Pi systems. Set the 800 x 480 resolution by hand as the specification sheet says, then run a browser in full-screen mode.
- A clock and music player panel on a 5 inch HDMI touch display with a Raspberry Pi 5 and a DS3231 real-time clock: HDMI carries audio to the 3.5 mm jack on the display. The DS3231 keeps the time over I2C if the Pi is offline.
- Pi 5 power monitor panel: The INA219 module talks to the Pi over I2C at 3.3 V and measures a separate low-voltage load that you choose. Check that the load current stays below the module's shunt rating. The 5 inch screen shows live voltage and current as large touch-friendly readouts.
Common mistakes
- Leaving the resolution on automatic when the screen is on a Raspberry Pi: the specification sheet says the resolution must be set manually (800 x 480 at 60 Hz) or the system uses its default (source: link, Usage)
- Expecting touch from a games console or TV box: the product page says touch works on Windows and Raspberry Pi systems only, while consoles get video and audio without touch (source: link, details)
- Plugging the display into the wrong Raspberry Pi 4 port or leaving the older video driver setting: Elecrow says to use HDMI-0 on a Raspberry Pi 4 and, on newer system images, to change vc4-kms-v3d to vc4-fkms-v3d in the config file (source: link, Wide Applications)
Not covered by the official source
- The specification sheet is titled with the model number AUS25507D and the Elecrow wiki and product page use RC050 for the same display.
- Dimensions differ between sources: 121.11 x 95.24 mm on the sheet and 121 x 95 x 13 mm on the product page.
- The product page also describes an RC050S variant with a speaker; only the RC050 documents are used here.
