Pinout
We don't publish a pin table for this part: no official source we could verify gives one. Check the labels printed on your module, and see the notes below.
Common mistakes
- Supplying the module from 5 V: the reference design gives the power input range as 3.4-4.4 V (source).pdf)
What we could not confirm
- PARTIAL: SIMCom reference design V1.00 only. The SIM800 Hardware Design V1.10 (power, pin, and level specs) is not available.
- The 5 V UART level advice and the 1k series resistor from the listing are unsourced and are not used.
- Peak current (2 A on listing), UART levels, RX limit, and operating temperature are not in the reference design.
- Quad-band and other radio claims are not in the sources.
- No official module pinout is available; pinout withheld.
- The SIMCom reference design (SIM800H&L-TE V1.00) gives only: power input range 3.4-4.4 V (Section 2.1, p.6) and that pins 2, 43, 44, 45 are the main GND signals for VBAT (Section 3.5, p.20). It has no pin table, no UART voltage levels and no module header, so no SIM800L chip rows are published. UART levels are not known until the SIM800 Hardware Design V1.10 is available.
- Listing wiring (VCC 3.7-4.2 V, TX/RX) and the 1k-resistor advice for 5 V microcontrollers are unsourced and are not used.
