Chip pins
These are the pins of the chip on the module, from the chip datasheet. The module's own header may label or expose them differently.
This is a bare IC; the pin numbers are for the 8-pin SOIC, DIP and similar packages in the maker's table. Which package the stocked part uses is not stated in the product name.

Build with it
Project ideas for the LM358 dual op-amp. Each link opens Soldr with the prompt filled in; Soldr assigns the pins, checks power and shows how to wire every part.
- Amplified LM35 thermometer: Gain-setting resistors come from the resistor pack: a non-inverting stage has gain 1 + Rf/Rg, so Rf = 2 x Rg gives a gain of 3 (for example two equal resistors in series for Rf and one for Rg, measured with a meter). The LM35 gives 10 mV per degree C, so a gain of 3 is 30 mV per degree C: 100 C reads 3.0 V, under the limit. Run the LM358 from the Uno's 5 V and keep the output below about 3.5 V (supply minus 1.5 V) so it does not clip. Learning project.
- Light-activated night lamp: One amplifier used as a comparator on a 5 V supply; its output high level stays at least 1.5 V below the supply, so it drives the BC547 base through a resistor from the resistor pack (choose the value from the transistor's page). Learning project.
- Potentiometer follower to an ADC: Run the LM358 from 5 V and feed the 10k potentiometer from the ESP32's 3.3 V: the sheet gives the common-mode input range as V- to V+ minus 1.5 V (3.5 V at 5 V, only 1.8 V at 3.3 V, and its table is specified from 5 V up), and a follower's output equals its input, so a 0 V to 3.3 V signal stays inside both the input range and the ADS1115's supply. A 10k potentiometer can also be read by the ADS1115 directly; this idea is for practising the follower. Learning project.
Common mistakes
- The output cannot swing to the positive rail: at a 5 V supply it is specified only to within 1.5 V of it, so a 5 V LM358 will not give a full 0 to 5 V output (source: link, Section 5.7).
- The inputs must stay between V- and about V+ minus 1.5 V; above that range the output is wrong (source: link, Section 5.7).
- The LM358 is rated 0 C to 70 C, not the -40 C to 85 C of the LM358B part (source: link, Section 5.3).
Not covered by the official source
- The product name does not give the version (A or B) or package; values use the LM358/LM358A column.
- The common-mode input and output swing values are stated as in the sheet at the test conditions given, not guaranteed elsewhere.
- The LM358 characteristics table is specified for VS = 5 V to 30 V; no figures are given there at 3.3 V.
