## Chip pins
These are the pins of the chip on the module, from the chip datasheet. The module's own header may label or expose them differently.

The table is the SHT30 chip's 8-pin DFN pinout, not the GY-SHT30-D header. The module board (regulator, pull-ups, header order, address jumper) is not covered by an official document.

| Pin | Function | Voltage | Notes | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | SDA | | Serial data, input/output; open-drain, needs pull-up | source 3 Pin Assignment, Table 7 |
| 2 | ADDR | | Address pin; connect to logic high or low, do not leave floating | source 3 Pin Assignment, Table 7 |
| 3 | ALERT | | Alarm output; must be left floating if unused | source 3 Pin Assignment, Table 7 |
| 4 | SCL | | Serial clock; open-drain, needs pull-up | source 3 Pin Assignment, Table 7 |
| 5 | VDD | 2.15 V to 5.5 V | Supply voltage | source 3 Pin Assignment, Table 7 |
| 6 | nRESET | | Active low reset; leave floating if unused | source 3 Pin Assignment, Table 7 |
| 7 | R | | No electrical function; to be connected to VSS | source 3 Pin Assignment, Table 7 |
| 8 | VSS | 0 V | Ground | source 3 Pin Assignment, Table 7 |

## Build with it
Project ideas for the SHT30 temperature and humidity sensor. Each link opens Soldr with the prompt filled in; Soldr assigns the pins, checks power and shows how to wire every part.

- [ESP32 weather display](https://app.soldr.ai/?prompt=I%20want%20to%20build%20a%20room%20weather%20display%20with%20an%20ESP32%20board%2C%20a%20GY-SHT30-D%20sensor%20and%20a%20small%20OLED): Both parts talk I2C at 3.3 V, inside the chip's 2.15 V to 5.5 V supply range.
- [Room humidity logger](https://app.soldr.ai/?prompt=I%20want%20to%20build%20a%20room%20humidity%20and%20temperature%20logger%20with%20an%20ESP8266%20board%20and%20a%20GY-SHT30-D%20sensor%20that%20sends%20readings%20over%20WiFi): The ESP8266 board is 3.3 V and the chip runs from 2.15 V to 5.5 V. Keep it in the chip's normal 5-60 C, 20-80 %RH range for stable readings.
- [Pico desk thermometer](https://app.soldr.ai/?prompt=I%20want%20to%20build%20a%20desk%20thermometer%20and%20hygrometer%20with%20a%20Raspberry%20Pi%20Pico%2C%20a%20GY-SHT30-D%20sensor%20and%20an%20OLED): Two I2C devices with different addresses share the Pico 3.3 V bus (SHT30 at 0x44 or 0x45; the OLED address is not covered here).

## Common mistakes

- Leaving the ADDR pin floating: the chip requires it tied high or low (source: [link](https://sensirion.com/media/documents/213E6A3B/63A5A569/Datasheet_SHT3x_DIS.pdf), Section 3 Pin Assignment).
- Skipping I2C pull-ups: SDA and SCL are open-drain and need external pull-ups, for example 10 kohm; check whether the module has them (source: [link](https://sensirion.com/media/documents/213E6A3B/63A5A569/Datasheet_SHT3x_DIS.pdf), Section 3).
- Using the wrong address: the chip answers at 0x44 or 0x45 depending on ADDR (source: [link](https://sensirion.com/media/documents/213E6A3B/63A5A569/Datasheet_SHT3x_DIS.pdf), Table 8).

## Not covered by the official source

- Module board (GY-SHT30-D) is not documented by an official source.
- SHT30 variant assumed from the module name (also shown on the page); module address jumper behaviour not verified.
