## Chip pins

These are the pins of the chip on the module, from the chip datasheet. The module's own header may label or expose them differently. Module header labels come from the Compoden listing, not an official module schematic.

| Pin | Function | Voltage | Notes | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VDDI | Low-voltage power supply for interface logic circuits | 1.65-3.3 V; absolute max -0.3 to +4.6 V | 5 V SPI lines on a bare ILI9341 exceed VDDI + 0.3 V. | source Section 4 Pin Descriptions (p.10-11); Section 18.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings (p.235) |
| VCI | High-voltage power supply for analog circuit blocks | 2.5-3.3 V; absolute max -0.3 to +4.6 V | | source Section 4 Pin Descriptions (p.10-11); Section 18.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings (p.235) |
| VSS | Ground (digital); VSSA, VSSC are analog grounds | 0 V | Datasheet: connect analog grounds to VSS on the FPC to prevent noise. | source Section 4 Pin Descriptions (p.10-11) |
| RESX | Reset, active LOW; must be applied to initialise | Logic input absolute max -0.3 V to VDDI + 0.3 V | | source Section 4 Pin Descriptions (p.10-11) |
| CSX | Chip select, low enable | Logic input absolute max -0.3 V to VDDI + 0.3 V | | source Section 4 Pin Descriptions (p.10-11) |
| D/CX (SCL) | In 4-wire 8-bit serial interface this pin is the serial clock (SCL) | Logic input absolute max -0.3 V to VDDI + 0.3 V | Module label SCK is assumed to be this pin by name only. | source Section 4 Pin Descriptions (p.10-11) |
| WRX (D/CX) | In the 4-line serial system this pin is the data/command select (DCX = 1 data, 0 command) | Logic input absolute max -0.3 V to VDDI + 0.3 V | Module label DC is assumed to be this pin by name only. | source Section 4 Pin Descriptions (p.10-11) |
| SDI / SDA | Serial interface data: IM3 low = SDA in/out, IM3 high = SDI input; data applied on the rising edge of SCL | Logic input absolute max -0.3 V to VDDI + 0.3 V | Module label MOSI is assumed to be this pin by name only. | source Section 4 Pin Descriptions (p.10-11) |
| SDO | Serial data output, clocked out on the falling edge of SCL | Logic input absolute max -0.3 V to VDDI + 0.3 V | Datasheet: if not used, open this pin. Module label MISO; the listing says it may be left unconnected for write-only drawing. | source Section 4 Pin Descriptions (p.10-11) |

## Common mistakes

- Driving 5 V logic into the interface: VDDI is 1.65-3.3 V, so 5 V SPI or control lines need a level shifter ([source](https://cdn-shop.adafruit.com/datasheets/ILI9341.pdf))
- Supplying the analog rail at 5 V: VCI is 2.5-3.3 V and the absolute maximum is 4.6 V ([source](https://cdn-shop.adafruit.com/datasheets/ILI9341.pdf))
- Treating the 240 x 320 resolution as the module's pixel size without checking the panel: the datasheet gives the driver resolution ([source](https://cdn-shop.adafruit.com/datasheets/ILI9341.pdf))

## What we could not confirm

- Panel size (2.4 inch), backlight rating and module pinout are not in the chip datasheet.
- Module 5 V logic tolerance claim is not in the datasheet; treated as unsourced.
- Chip current draw is not given on this page.
- Pin rows are the ILI9341 chip pins. The listing's Uno/ESP32 wiring (CS=D10 etc.) is example wiring, not module facts, and was not copied. The module's VCC, GND and backlight (LED) pins, any onboard regulator and level shifting are not in an official source.
- Listing says 'module supports 5V logic tolerance' and 'Yes with level shifter or 5V-tolerant module'; the datasheet limits chip logic inputs to VDDI + 0.3 V (VDDI at most 3.3 V). No official module schematic supports 5 V tolerance.
